2 Day F Gas course: 1 day revision theory plus 1 day for the exam and practical assessment. No practical training is given in this course. Suitable for engineers who have recently achieved a technical certificate or NVQ in refrigeration and air-conditioning.
3 Day F Gas course: 2 days of theory in preparation for the exam plus 1 day for the exam and practical assessment. No practical training is given in this course. Suitable for experienced engineers who can cope with the practical assessment but need theory input to help with the exam.

Courses we offer:

4 Day F Gas course: 2 days of theory in preparation for the exam plus 1 day of practical training / practice plus 1 day for the exam and practical assessment. Suitable for engineers with limited working experience of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems who need limited tuition on the practical aspect of the course as well as theory input to help with the exam.
5 Day F Gas course: 2 days of theory in preparation for the exam plus 2 days of practical training / practice plus 1 day for the exam and practical assessment. Suitable for engineers with little or no working experience of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems who need tuition on the practical aspect of the course as well as theory input to help with the exam. Ideally an associated trade such as plumbing or electrical will be required.

Practical assessment:

The practical assessment consists of:
• Undertaking a risk assessment
• The manufacturing and installation of a given length of pipe (2 flared ends and a brazed joint in the middle. Joint needs to be clean inside and will be cut open and inspected on completion of the assessment)
• The performance of a suitable strength test on the assessment installation and recording pressures as necessary
• The performance of a suitable tightness test on the assessment installation and recording pressures as necessary
• The repair of any leaks identified
• The performance of a suitable evacuation of the assessment installation
• The charging of the system with a specified amount of a designated refrigerant
• The charging of the system whilst it is running
• The performance of all commissioning checks and recording them as necessary to ensure correct operation of the equipment
• The completion of the F Gas data sheet
• The reclaiming of refrigerant and completion of the waste transfer note
• The removal of pipework and cutting open of the brazed joint as directed
• Leaving the test rig in a safe condition
• Draining oil from a compressor as directed
 
If you are not eligible for any of the F gas courses listed you could take the basic refrigeration course and then progress on to the F Gas course.

4 day Basic Refrigeration Course

This course is suitable for technically minded engineers who wish to learn the basic principles of refrigeration. The course covers all relevant theory of the systems / components and also includes practical training and assessment on charging with refrigerant, commissioning of the systems, de-commissioning and basic maintenance and fault finding techniques. Suitable for persons with an associated trade as well as novices wishing to enter the refrigeration trade.
